What happened in The Blinding Knife?
- Kip has been sent back to the Chromeria to become a Blackguard. Gavin (actually Dazen… this could get confusing) heads to Seer’s Island with Karris after saving some refugees from a sea demon.
- Gavin plans to speak to a powerful woman who can can the future. He wants to build a home for refugees on the island. This woman, aka The Third Eye, knows that Gavin is actually Dazen and that he has already lost the blue.
- She is able to give Dazen some advice and he uses it to kill the blue bane.
- Rela Gavin is trying to escape prison, btw.
- Kip goes through Blackguard training in the Chromeria. He meets a colour blind slave called Teia. The other students don’t like Kip because he seems to have had special treatment.
- Ironfist announces that, due to the war going terribly, the top fourteen students will graduate rather than seven. They need more people in the army, clearly.
- Andross Guile takes an interest in Kip, since Kip is his grandson.
- Dazen and Karris return to the Chromeria. Dazen meets with the Spectrum, and they rename Seer’s Island as New Tyrea. Danavis becomes satrap of this new territory.
- Andross Guile hires men to ambush and beat up Karris. Andross wants Dazen to marry the green but the green is way too young for him so Dazen refuses.
- Kip meets Janus Borig, an artist who creates new Nine Kings cards. Kip has been playing the game with his grandfather and wants to win.
- Janus tells Kip that she’s in danger, and shortrly after she becomes wounded by assassins and her house is burnt down.
- Kip grabs a new deck of cards. He kills the assassins and gives their shimmercloaks to Ironfist and Dazen.
- Liv swears fealty to the Colour Prince. He sends his army towards Ru.
- Real Gavin escapes the green prison and gets stuck in yellow. The Prism shows up to chat to him and then shoots him. Charming.
- Kip ranks fourteenth in the test. He is a full spectrum polychrome.
- Dazen takes Kip and heads towards Ru with a bunch of Blackguards. They manage to sink a pirate ship.
- Karris and Dazen get married. Karris knows it’s Dazen btw.
- A green bane is trying to birth a new god. The team heads over to kill them. Ironfist leads the assault. The green bane emerges from the sea. Dazen realises he has lost the ability to draft green.
- Live throws a beam of light to the spire, and awakens the green god, Atirat.
- Ironfist and his team blow up the spire. Kip stabs Atirat and kills it. Although this seems victorious, they lose Ru to the Colour Prince.
- The group board a ship. Andross Guile greets Kip and Dazen. Kip realises that his grandfather is a red wight. He stabs Andross int he shoulder with the Blinding Knife. Dazen tries to stop him but fails. Dazen falls overboard.
- A pirate ship picks up Dazen and Kip from the sea. They meet Captain Gunner, who keeps Dazen and the gun-sword made from the Blinding Knife, and then he throws Kip back overboard.
- The Colour Prince congratulates Liv and implies that when a ultraviolet bane emerges she will be its avatar.
- Andross Guile realises he is no longer a colour wight.
- Kip gets picked up by a guy in a boat called Zymun, who is Real Gavin and Karris’s son.
- Dazen wakes up and finds himself completely colour blind. He’s also a slave now.
