What happened in The Dragon Reborn?

  • Perrin and co. are waiting for a woman called Leya to arrive. Leya is coming to see Moiraine Sedai. Perrin and Leya get into a bit of a discussed about the Way of the Leaf while they take Leya back to their camp.
  • Loial wants to write a book about Rand.
  • Rand and Moiraine are arguing in her cabin when Perrin’s group arrives in camp. While Leya goes to speak to Moiraine, Perrin follows Rand to ask him about Mat.
  • Rand is worried about fighting Ba’alzamon again.
  • Moiraine tells the others that Leya has said Almoth Plain is a disaster zone sinc ehte Whitecloaks started pushing others out. People who look like Rand are being killed.
  • Perrin has dreams about a man in an inn who is trying to get Perrin to drink. Perrin dreams of himself when he’s older and has been a warrior for some time. A gorgeous woman offers Perrin a drink. Next, he dreams that he is standing in a stairway and witnesses some people having an argument. Then, finally, he dreams about a crystal sword called Callandor and a wolf talking about the twisted ones.
  • The camp is attacked. Perrin tries to save Leya but she is ultimately killed. Afterwards, Moiraine heals Perrin and Rand until she passes out, exhausted.
  • Rand goes off by himself, which panics everyone. He leaves a note to tell them he’s running away. Perrin tells Moiraine about the dreams and it turns out that Rand’s dreams have been projected upon others. They assume that because of these dreams Rand is heading to get Callandor.
  • The group head to Tear, thinking they’re going after Rand.
  • They reach Jarra and ask the innkeeper about what’s been going on. The Children of Light passed through the town and quit the Whitecloaks. They learn that Rand may have been playing a flute for the weddings held in town recently, and he is now heading east.
  • Perrin asks Moiraine to shield his dreams but she can’t help him.
  • Rand kills a dog with a beam of light.
  • Meanwhile, Egwene has been dreaming of Rand and his journey.
  • Mat is still unconscious and is probably dying.
  • Whitecloaks arrive and Egwene destroys the path in front of them, making the Whitecloaks turn around. Verin isn’t happy about this because Egwene used the Power as a weapon.
  • The group is now in Tar Valon. Mat is taken away as he could harm the others.
  • Verin shows the Amyrlin the Horn, which she has been carrying with her. The Amyrlin meet with the group and Egwene and Elayne are promoted to Accepted.
  • Siuan and Nynaeve discuss who they can trust. Nynaeve doesn’t think they can trust Moiraine.
  • Egwene and Nynaeve are instructed to hunt for the Black Ajah.
  • A man tries to shoot Egwene and Nynaeve but misses. When the pair go to investigate, the man has already been killed and his crossbow is missing. Sheriam says the guy was a Gray Man, who had given his soul to the Dark One.
  • The women try to heal Mat. It’s unclear if it works or not as Mat collapses.
  • Mat wakes up and doesn’t know where he is. He tries to figure it out. Selene visits him and warns him off the Aes Sedai. Mat now wants to leave.
  • Verin tells Egwene about the world of dreams. After leaving Verin’s quarters, Egwene is tested. Rand is then brought to her in chains. Egwene refuses to to sentence him, and has to escape through a silver arch. Egwene passes the tests and becomes Accepted.
  • Egwene reads through the notes that Verin gave her. She doesn’t seem to find anything useful but she wants to decipher her dreams.
  • Egwene and Nynaeve go looking for Else and the woman in white. They come across some old bags in the storeroom and find a map of Tear.
  • Egwene tries to explore the world of dreams to find answers.
  • The women plan to head to Tear the following day to break a trap that has been set.
  • A Grey Man is found dead in Sheriam’s bed.
  • Mat needs to get money so he can take a ship to Aringill and then onto Tear. He plans to take part in some gambling.
  • An assassin attacks Mat as he’s walking at night. Mat wins, so it’s all good. He stays the night at an inn. Thom is there and they chat about Rand and Moiraine.
  • Mat and Thom board the Gray Gull at the last minute. The ship is attacked, of course, and Thom and Mat fight them off.
  • Perrin thinks he’s on Rand’s trail. He spots a girl who seems sus. Perrin learns that Rand has been in Remen but they don’t know where he went after that.
  • The girl tells Perrin she’s a Hunter and she’s trying to find the Horn of Valere. She’s to be known as Faile, which is a name she chose herself but it’s a bit awkward.
  • In his dream, Perrin comes across Rand while talking to Hopper. Rand attacks Perrin because he doesn’t realise what’s going on. Perrin breaks away and wakes up. Rand also wakes up, realising he was attacking Perrin. He then kills a Gray Man.
  • Egwene has passed by many burned villages. Their ship gets stuck and they need to be rescued. While walking along the riverbank, the group is attacked by Aiel – Aviendha specifically.
  • Egwene and co. ask Aviendha a lot of questions. Nynaeve heals the Aeil and so Aviendha is insistent that she owes Nynaeve a debt.
  • Egwene gets knocked out. She wakes up tied to a horse. Nynaeve is there too.
  • Mat and Thom reach Aringill. There are lots of refugees there. There’s a fight, of course.
  • Perrin fights off some Gray Men. He smelled them coming.

  • Rand enters the Heart of the Stone. Be’lal is waiting, as usual. Be’lal creates a sword to use against him, but Rand is able to conjure up a sword for himself. They fight..
  • Moiraine kills Be’lal using balefire. She tells Rand that the Callandor is his birthright.
  • Ba’alzamon shows up, throws Moiraine around, and threatens Rand. Ba’alzamon flees because Rand seems threatening. Rand makes it out of Tel’aran’rhiod and Ba’alzamon is dead.
  • Everyone stops fighting because Rand tells them to.
  • Mat, Elayne, Egwene, Nynaeve, Moiraine, and Rhuarc (jfc) are back together and chatting about Seals and Rand. Moiraine realses that the Aiel are the People of the Dragon. She insists that Rand didn’t kill the Dark One because there was a body left behind. She tells everyone that Mat is ta’veren and the sounder of the Horn.
