What happened in Halo?
- Bethany is an angel who has been sent to Earth to fight off darkness. A couple of other angels, Gabriel and Ivy, are already there. Beth hasn’t been to Earth before she she doesn’t know exactly what to expect.
- Beth starts to realise she may connect with humans better than her siblings do.
- Gabriel starts teaching at a local school in Venus Cove, and Ivy starts volunteering. Bethany joins Gabe’s school as a fake student.
- Beth meets a girl called Molly, who invites her to meet her friends. She meets a guy named Xavier, whose girlfriend died in a fire fairly recently.
- Molly hosts a party and Beth gets drunk. Xavier looks after her.
- The two of them fall in love. Beth shows Xavier her wings and explains the whole angel thing. He seems cool with it.
- Heaven obviously saw that Beth shared her secret, and the other angels try to get Beth to return from Earth.
- Something – a potential higher power – overrides this decsion.
- A guy called Jake joins the school. He is British and an exchange student who has already been expelled from several schools.
- Jake is very interested in Bethany.
- Prom happens, and Beth is supposed to go with Xavier but he is injured in a rugby game and can’t go. Jake takes her instead.
- Gabriel and Ivy don’t like Jake.
- Jake takes Beth out to the balcony and kisses her. She pushes him off, and Jake tells her he knows she’s an angel and that he’s been looking for her for centuries.
- Gabe and Ivy take Bethany home.
- Beth tries to contact Xavier but isn’t able to. Molly shows Beth a photo of her and Jake from the balcony. It seems Xavier has seen the photo and doesn’t want to talk to Beth.
- Gabe explains what happened to Xavier, who comes over to apologise for being a dick.
- Xavier is ready to fight Jake but the others talk him down. Gabe wonders what Jake is up to, as they’re not entirely sure.
- Jake causes Taylah to slit her own throat by manipulating her mind.
- Molly tells Beth she’s going on a date with Jake. Beth freaks out and Molly thinks she’s just jealous.
- Beth and Xavier find out where the date is happening (the cemetery, of course) and go to find Molly.
- They witness Jake putting dark spirits into students with the intention of getting them to follow him. Beth steps in and starts shouting at Jake before he can do anything to Molly.
- Beth offers herself in exchange for Molly. She passes out.
- Bethany wakes up, and realises that Xavier, Gabe, and Ivy saved her. Bethany realises that her special power is love. She and Xavier kiss. Jake is sent back to the underworld.
