What happened in Twisted Love?

• Ava Chen gets stranded in the rain after a photoshoot. She calls up her brother, Josh, who sends his best friend Alex to pick Ava up.
• Alex picks Ava up and seems weirdly angry that she was stranded by herself. He drops her home. 
• Ava gets ready for Josh’s farewell party. He’s going to an internship overseas, and Ava is struggling to figure out how she’s going to do without her brother as he has always been really overprotective.
• Josh asks Alex to look after Ava while he’s abroad. Josh is worried Ava’s cheaty ex will try to contact her as he seems a bit stalkery. Josh trusts Alex because he thinks his best friend won’t fall for his sister.
• Alex moves into Josh’s house, which is next door to where Ava lives with her friend.
• Ava’s friends tell her that Alex seems really overprotective. They suggest they come up with a list of emotions that Alex should be showing and that Ava should try to test him on.
• Ava takes some movies to Alex’s place and tries to make him sad. They do chat a lot though and Ava likes it when Alex calls her sunshine.
• Ava falls asleep during the last movie and Alex lets her sleep in his room.
• There’s a gala and Alex gets jealous of the guy dancing with Ava. Alex is stressed because he doesn’t want to fall for his best friend’s sister.
• Alex and Ava argue a bit. Ava realises he likes her and he’s super jealous.
• Alex hears someone shouting at Ava at the gala. Her ex, Liam, has found her and has grabbed her arm. Alex beats Liam up and Ava has to stop him.
• Ava has what is probably a PTSD flashback. She and Josh were each living with a different parent when they were younger. Ava lived with their mother, who was very depressed after the divorce. Someone pushed Ava into the lake and Ava couldn’t swim and nearly died. After she was rescued, she found out her mother pushed her. Her mother later took her own life.
• Ava is pushed into a pool at a party by one of Alex’s exes. She decides she needs to learn to swim and Alex agrees to teach her.
• Ava plans a surprise birthday party for Alex, which he doesn’t hate. Alex and Ava clean up afterwards and they chat. Alex tells Ava this is the first birthday party he has had since his family were murdered. His parents and sister were killed.
• Ava and Alex kiss.
• Ava avoids Alex after this but eventually he tells her to stop being stupid and come to her swimming lessons. She dips her head underwater and passes out. She wakes up in the hotel lobby.
• Ava tells Alex to kiss her and to book a hotel room, so he books the penthouse. They get it on, and Alex makes eye contact during which he normally doesn’t do (lovely!).
• Ava takes Alex with her to her father’s place for Thanksgiving. Ava has dreams which result in a memory surfacing.
• The next morning she watches her dad as he exercises, and notices his ring. She remembers that whoever pushed her into the lake was wearing that ring, and realises that it was her father who pushed her. She also remembers him trying to suffocate her with a pillow.
• Ava tells Alex what she has remembered. Alex confronts her father, who confesses that he tried to kill Ava because he doesn’t think she’s his biological daughter.
• Ava’s father is arrested after Josh (who secretly showed up) recorded everything. Their father tries to make out that Josh won’t believe any of this but Josh reveals himself and corrects him.
• Josh is angry that Alex and Ava are together, at least at first. He threatens Alex.
• Alex discovers that it was his uncle who killed his family. His uncle later raised him, so this is a bit of a shock. Alex becomes CEO of his uncle’s company.
• Alex’s uncle abducts Alex and her friend, Bridget. His uncle wants Alex to hand the company back to him. Alex says Ava is just a fling and means nothing. Ava is upset by this.
• Alex shoots his uncle.
• Ava approaches Alex and asks if he meant what he said about her meaning nothing. Alex tells Ava she should stay away from him and not to trust him. Ava is heartbroken.
• Josh beats Alex up for using him and Ava to gain information.
• Ava is going to London for an internship. Bridget tells Alex to go after her. Alex rushes to the airport but Ava’s plane has already left.
• Six months later, Alex goes to London to find Ava. He tells her he hopes she will forgive him because everything was real for him. He tells him to leave her alone.
• Alex promises to show up for her every day until she forgives him. He does this for two years.
• Ava holds her exhibition on her last day of the internship. All of her work is purchased, which she wasn’t expecting. She knows this was Alex’s doing. She goes looking for him, and finds him up on stage confessing his love for her. He sings a song and Ava decides she can forgive him.
