What happened in Ruby Red?
- Gwyneth is a high school girl who has recently started suffering from dizzy spells.
- These dizzy spells escalate and cause her to jump through time. This is something Gwen wasn’t meant to be able to do.
- Gwen’s family are descended from time travellers. Every generation one person inherits the time travel gene. This generation is was meant to be Gwen’s cousin, Charlotte.
- Charlotte has been preparing for this responsibility for years. Gwen has not.
- Gwen jumps through time twice more and it goes horribly. She ends up kissing someone at a ball in the 1700’s.
- Lesley, Gwen’s best friend, tells Gwen that she must tell her mother what’s going on.
- Turns out that Gwen’s mother has amended Gwen’s documentation to make it seem like she wasn’t the true time travel heir. Oops.
- Gwen has to prove to everyone that she can time travel and that she is the final twelfth time traveller.
- Some of Gwen’s blood is put into the time travel machine so she can use it to help control her power.
- Another cousin, Lucy, previously stole the first time travel machine, so this machine is the second.
- Gideon de Villiers is assigned to watch over Gwen. He’s really quite rude and arrogant.
- Gwen is meant to meet Count Saint-Germain, but her mother doesn’t want her to. Gwen goes anyway and demands some answers, none of which are really answered.
- Gwen thinks the Count might be telepathic.
- Gideon and Gwen are intercepted by three men. They fight them off and time travel back to the present.
- The family ask Gwen to speak to the eighth time traveller, Margaret Tilney. They need to get some of Margaret’s blood to put into the machine.
- Gwen and Gideon time travel back and also bump into Lucy and Paul. Lucy and Paul insist that they can’t put all the time travellers’ blood into the machine, otherwise everything will be destroyed.
- Gideon threatens Lucy, so she and Paul have to run away. Lucy tells Gwen to look up The Green Rider.
- Gideon and Gwen kiss.
