What happened in Saga Volume 2?
- Hazel introduces her father as a child and talks about his childhood on Wreath. The war between Wreath and Landfall has already moved to another planet at that point, but his parents were able to show him the site of the final battle that happened on Wreath. They taught him to hate the wings from Landfall.
- As you may recall, at the end of the first book Marko’s parents arrived on the rocketship that the family had acquired. They hadn’t met Alana before now. Things go… ok.
- Marko’s mother tells him that they had to sell the house to afford the equipment they needed to find him. Marko’s dad thought Marko had been kidnapped and was being held against his will.
- Alana traps Marko’s father because he’s annoying. He tells Alana that he has less than a month to live, which shocks her so much that he gets out of his bindings. He puts her to sleep with a spell.
- There’s a flashback. Alana is a soldier and recommends a great book to her colleague. It’s about two people on opposing sides of a fight falling in love. Alana then meets Marko.
- In present day, Marko and his mother have to fight a giant. They’re trying to find Izabel. The giant tells them they’re actually on an egg planet.
- Marko’s father makes new clothes for Alana.
- Gwendolyn shows up at the Freelancer Talent Agency, as she wants to find out where Marko is.
- In a dream, The Will teams up with a stitched up The Stalk to go and save the girl from Sextillion. The girl turns into a creepy creature.
- Thankfully, The Will is woken up by Gwendolyn. She asks The Will for help finding Marko. He demands payment so he can save the girl.
- Gwendolyn calls up the Sextillion handler and pretends the girl is one of the Horns. The handler says she’ll remove the security elixir at once and Gwendolyn can collect her.
- Gwendolyn and The Will head off, but it turns out the handler figured out their plan. The Will takes out one of the grunts, and Gwendolyn takes care of the rest.
- In a flashback, we see that Alana and Marko have bonded. They have a Secret Book Club, which is cute. Marko tells Alana he’s about to be sent to Blacksite, which detainees never return from. Alana cuts him loose and they go on the run.
- Marko and his mother bump into some creepy ghosts. Izabel saves them. They head back to the rocketship just before the planet hatches.
- The Will’s ship closes in, but The Will notices the thing that’s hatching. He’s not keen. Gwendolyn shoots at Marko and Alana’s ship.
- Alana is able to make the rocket bounce off their ship, but it hits the hatching planet instead. The baby planet thing shoots at The Will’s ship. Then it opens its mouth into a black hole. The ship starts to get sucked in. The Will saves the cat.
- Marko’s father, Barr, uses his magic on their ship to help them get away. This drains him and he dies.
- Prince Robot IV recalls his time on the battlefield when the enemy used gas. The medic that was treating him wasn’t given a gas mask and died.
- The guy from secret intelligence calls IV. IV tells him the plan to find the author. The SI guy threatens IV’s wife.
- IV lands on Quietus, the author’s planet. IV asks whether he has seen Alana, and Oswald denies it. Oswald tells IV that his son came back from the war and took his own life. IV shoots Oswald in the knee.
- IV plans to stay and wait for Alana and co. to arrive. The only issue is they’re already there, and they’re hiding upstairs.
