What happened in The Princess Diaries: Give Me Five?
- Mia joins the student team behind the school newspaper, The Atom, but is not feeling fulfilled as she is only allowed to cover the cafeteria menu.
- Shameeka expresses concerns that Michael hasn’t asked Mia to go to prom with him, as that’s coming up in two weeks. Mia doesn’t want to be the one to ask her boyfriend.
- Mia’s mother is due in a month’s time, so Mia wants to stay in New York for the summer instead of going to Genovia. Prince Phillipe agrees that Mia can stay until her sibling is born but Mia must go with him to Genovia after that.
- Mia gives her Grandmere a list of wishes for her birthday, which includes Michael asking Mia to go to prom. Grandmere has no idea what Mia is talking about, and after Mia explains the concept, Grandmere suggests that Mia attends without Michael. Mia can’t do this though because the prom is for seniors only.
- Mia’s fifteenth birthday arrives and Mia receives lots of well wishes.
- Josh asks Lana to prom.
- Skinner Box, Michael’s band, plays a song in G&T class for Mia’s birthday. The band gets detention.
- Mia goes out to dinner with her family and Michael. Mia receives a cell phone and a fountain pen for her birthday. Grandmere sponsors an orphan in Africa on Mia’s behalf. Michael gifts Mia a cute necklace. Still no prom invite.
- Rommel, the dog, escapes and causes chaos in the restaurant, culminating in Grandmere getting lobster bisque poured all over her. The busboy gets fired.
- This incident makes the news, and Lilly starts a protest as she knows that Rommel was the cause. Leslie asks Mia to cover the story too.
- Lilly starts a new organisation called Students Against the Wrongful Dismissal of Jangbu Panasa. Mia’s grandmother doesn’t accept any responsibility. Mia sees the protests on TV.
- Mia has her birthday party. Tina wants to play Seven Minutes in Heaven in an attempt to get Mia to ask Michael to prom.
- Lilly brings Jangbu to the party.
- Ling Su distracts Helen so Mia and Michael can play the game. Mia does ask Michael, but he tells her the prom is lame so he doesn’t want to go. Mia gets upset.
- Lilly and Jangbu enter the closet next. Boris is very upset. Mr G goes to put his coat away and finds Lilly and Jangbu in the cupboard. He ends the party.
- Helen tries to give Mia The Talk, which doesn’t go too well because it’s awkward.
- Busboys across the city decide to strike.
- Boris loses it in G&T class, and he drops a globe on his head accidentally. Tina thinks this display is romantic, everyone else is just concerned.
- Grandmere finds Mia a dress for prom, even though she hasn’t been invited yet.
- Mia enquires about Michael’s band performing at the prom to get him to go. Lana, head of the committee, shuts this down.
- Mia tries to stick up for Boris and Lilly gets annoyed because she finds him manipulative.
- Helen passes out at the grocery store due to dehydration. Mr G and Mia rush to see her. Michael shows up at the hospital too.
- Mia writes an article on the restaurant debacle and publishes it in the school paper. There’s also an ad from Boris trying to get ahold of Lilly. Phillipe wants to ground Mia for the article, but Helen is on Mia’s side.
- Mia sees her prom dress and it’s beautiful and perfect.
- Prom is cancelled due to the strikes. The hotel workers have now joined in. Everyone gets annoyed with Mia for this, because it’s her grandmother’s fault.
- Tina goes to meet Boris after his ad in the paper, and they show up holding hands. They’re now dating.
- Lilly gets upset about Boris and Tina, especially because she has broken up with Jangbu after he sold out to the media.
- Grandmere comes to live in the loft for a bit.
- Lilly’s parents keep her home from school in order to figure out what on earth their daughter has been up to.
- Grandmere finds a place for the prom to take place – the Empire State Building. Mia tells Lana about it, and gets Lana to agree that Skinner Box can perform. Mia tells Michael it’s a-go, and he’s surprised because he didn’t know she wanted to go to prom.
- Mia and Tina attend prom. Then Helen goes into labour in the middle of it so Mia has to leave early anyway. She meets everyone at the hospital.
- Mia’s brother, Rocky, is born.
- Tina fills Mia in on what happened at prom. Josh got suspended for being gross, ruining Lana’s evening.
- Mia again asks her dad for permission to stay in New York for the summer. Phillipe reminds her of what they agreed, and Michael pipes up to point out that Mia is too young to enter into a contract.
